Geography in the Kindergarten

We have been very busy creating and using maps in our geography unit. For the past two days we have been using various shapes to create our own maps of the classroom. Today we used our maps to play a game called Find the Animal. To play this game one student stood just outside our door while a second student placed a stuffed animal toy somewhere in the classroom. The rest of us used a dry-erase marker to draw a line on the map from the door to the animal. We then invited the first child back into the room to follow the path on the map to find the toy!
