We are working so hard during our math time together, today is perfect proof. We began with a quick fluency warm-up using pictures of 2d shapes. We then discussed and defined the following words: same, different, sort. Then we played "match it" where you really had to know what the words meant. To play students took turns picking a number and a shape and putting it in their boards. When they say "match it" their partner matches the number and shape! After that I was workplace time, which is a time for small group work as well as application of previously taught skills.

Guess My Shape
Students decided to use the geoboards to play "guess my shape" during math workshop today. They took turns creating shapes for their friends to guess/identify. The self-directed conversations around the characteristics of shapes were incredible. Student directed learning at its best!
