Fresh Or Free

I told a story today of when I mistakenly read a word wrong because I only looked at the first one or two letters. The story was from my ride to school. I saw a sign that I read as "free donuts" but when I went into the store I was disappointed to learn it actually said "fresh donuts." The goal of this lesson was to get students to start moving from just using the first letter to really looking at the whole word.

A Special Visit

100th Day of School

This is one of my all-time favorite days of the year. We have been diligently keeping track of each day during our number corner. We celebrated with a bunch of fun, educational activities. We went on a 100 Hershey Kiss hunt. The kisses were hidden around the room. When we found them, we read the number on the bottom and then matched the number to a 100 chart. We also made necklaces out of 100 pieces of cereal and 100 day crowns with 100 stars.

Avid Readers

We talked about what it means to be an avid reader. Avid readers cannot put their books down. Blah readers are easily distracted and waste their time by not reading. After our reading workshop it became clear our class is full of avid readers!!!
