Our Search For Sight Words

During Reading Workshop today we learned how to take a "book walk" before reading to look for words we know and how that can help us read our just-right-books. We called words that we can read quickly by sight snap-words. Theses are words that we can read as quickly as you can snap your fingers. To practice we read one of our favorite books, "The Napping House" by Audrey Wood and used highlighting tape to mark words we consider to be snap-words. Then each student had the chance to try it on their own with a "just-right-book." I am hoping this is one more tool for our reading tool boxes.
