Pilgrim Kids vs Kids Today

We compared life today with what life was like when the pilgrims were alive. We read an informational text, then used a Venn diagram to sort characteristics. After that we thought about what our life would be like if we lived a long, long time ago. This activity helped us with the following common core standards:

W.K.7: Participate in shared research and writing projects (e.g., explore a number of books by a favorite author and express opinions about them).

W.K.8: With guidance and support from adults, recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question.

Thanksgiving Sort

Common Core Standard: RF.K2, Raeding Foundational Skills - Students Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.

Morning Meeting

Today our morning message provided so many fun learning opportunities! We practiced concepts about print, including reading left to right and top to bottom. We composed and decomposed the number 6. We even practiced one to one matching while we read.
