A Great Book
What do you do when you have a great book and you can't put it down? Take it out for recess and share it with your friends of course.

Kindergarten and Third Grade Book Buddies
The third grade practiced fluent and expressive reading throughout the week to prepare for reading to us! Kindergartners and third graders were paired up as reading buddies. Watching these kids read together was amazing, we hope to do this a lot this year.
Composing And Decomposing Numbers
How many ways can you show 7? The kindergarten kids found out there are many different number combinations possible to get to one number. It was another fun, hands-on, interactive, cooperative day in our math workshop.
How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin
We connected literacy with math with a great book and a fun project! It began with a read aloud of "How Many Seeds In A Pumpkin" and continued with opening a pumpkin to estimate what we thought. Then the estimating and recording our estimates for a later comparison. The really fun part was digging in and separating the seeds from the pulp so we could dry them and count them later.

Counting and Writing
We played another match it game today, this time with numbers up to 6 and using sticks to check our one-to-one correspondence. This was followed by some quick individual application with lots of time to practice forming the numeral 6. We finished off our math time with a great book called "Ten Black Dots" by Donald Crews.
